reading blogs

Are blogs for any member to read, or is there limited access.? I managed to read one blog, then twice was told I had no right to access. Just wondered.

Basically the blogs have privacy settings that the blog author sets. If you are a member of their 'buddy' list then you are able to view the blogs, if not, then obv. it's not an option.

Dear Oola, Could you explain how the Buddy List works. How do I know if I am on someones list, or how do I get on to someones list. What happens if I put someone on mine. So many questions, but I am feeling my way about your great site. I think I am going to be very happy here.Thank you.

Your buddy list is basically a list found in your user control panel. At the top of the page is a link to My Control Panel. Click on this, then on the new page on the left hand side is a menu bar. Under 'Miscelleanous' there's a link to Buddy/Ignore List. Here you can enter a list of everyone you want to be able to access your blog.

I put a thread in the General section about the blogs - basically they're set to private at the moment, but I'm reviewing this and seeing whether they can be public by default. If you're not happy about having your blog private then you can control who views it (hence the buddy list).

Also, in your Blog Control Panel (go to Blogs > left hand menu > blog control panel) you can check the 'view my blog' box under the Privacy and Permissions box for 'Everyone Else Can...'. This means your blog will be open to everyone to view.
