Just imagine our conversation:-
Me- 'look at the market, isn't it wonderful?'
OH- 'never mind the market, look at those doors!'

fran i'm afraid i love the markets but i am one for then being awe inspired by the buildings and views.one view photo or building photo is enough at each time.dont know if your hubby is like mine.he just keeps clicking a lake .the same lake.the same lake.years later i only keep one of each view and sneakily chuck the rest.i am going to be looking for a grand entrance now tho.

Eleanor, it's a gem of a place! Have you been there before? If not, do yourself a favour and go for a visit. We actually went there for one reason. The last time we visited, in a shop called "The Gallery on the Bridge" there was the most stunning gothic mirror I almost couldn't leave without. But it was very expensive and we decided not to buy it. Of course, like with most things, when back home, both me and hubby were quite disappointed for not bying this mirror! So he promised me the next time we go to the UK and we can manage to be near enough to Castle Coombe, (and the mirror is still there) he will buy it for me. We did manage to be near enough and he bought a mirror for me as a Christmas gift!. Fortunately it was not the very expensive one from the previous time. The lady had all knew ones, all different sizes, and the one we bought was just the right size and price! It was worth the wait. I've put a picture of it on the "Passion" thread.:)

It's not far from Chippenham. On the B4039. If on the M4 (east-west direction) you can take exit 17, onto A350 towards Chippenham, then A420, then B403. Do yourself a favour.

Hi Sheddie, yes tis my OH; I wish I could have bought those door home with us. OH is half Basque half Irish,( born in Australia) so the beret is obligatory.
He developed a passion for them and now has quite a collection of both Basque and English ones plus a blue tartan one my Sis bought home from Scotland for him.
