Do you think it is better than how it used to be .I think it was a much nicer experience going shopping when an assistant served you.A more personal service. Also if you go to buy new shoes and they are all out on racks to just try on do you have to wonder how many feet have tried them on before you just for the sake of trying them to see what they are like even though they have no intention of buying them.

I think it is more difficult to refuse to buy when an assistant has spent time helping you. I prefer to browse without being hassled, and avoid deigner style shops for that reason. Come back C&A I say. Fran.

I still use the small shops in our town to buy things like shoes and clothing. I love the service and quality is generally better. There is no pressure to buy and as I am known they are quite happy to spend time with me even if there is no sale at the end of it. We do not have any large self service stores in our town yet.

I too like the smaller shops, I hate being hassled by shop assitants who do not know what they are really talking about, or if you are trying on clothes and they say "oh that really looks nice on you" and you know damn well it does'nt!

..........or if you say you're fine, just browsing a bit, and they follow you like a shadow all over the shop, and try to sell you something. It then when I just say goodbye, thanks for the help, and walk out.
