I don't think I do but I never really think about it .I will have a go at most things and think I still manage to do what I always have.Does age stop you in any way.

Thought you may like this I wrote it a long time ago putting this topic on reminded me.
Growing Old
Don't like this growing older, seems all aches and pains
legs that once ran perfect, now have varicose viens
have to watch the blood pressure, got dodgy brittle bones
still not much use complaining ,who wants to hear my moans
Don't like the signs of ageing ,wrinkles on my face hands all rough and worn out ,getting slow can't keep the pace
brown eyes that show lost sparkle ,dark hair now turning grey
Still not much use complaining ,best give thanks for every day

to have fun.love the poem dinger .thing is i went to my over 50s exercise class today.this woman 76 i think. lost her hubby 4 years ago.had to move off her life time farm.to isolated with her being old and alone .had two replacement knees.used to be a bit of a beauty by her photos.she was a member of the womens health and beauty.she danced with a party of other women. she toddles upto church.her hair done ,make-up on. jewellry.even goes to have her nails done at the new fangled nail places. yet the best thing of all.her happy personality. she fell over today.we picked her up put her on a seat. within two minutes she laughed and started joining in the exercises again.after i told her what a tough old stick she was. she laughed and said you'v just got to keep picking yourself up and get on with life.so dinger if you can do a third verse about you might look old on the outside but you can be young at heart. like a good wine that gets better as it ages.

NO.. and I receive quite a shock sometimes when I see that old-ish lady looking back out of the mirror at me. I think my body has been hijacked I see it pass by sometimes; I know its me because my OH looks at it too!!

"Do you feel your age"......yes, first thing in the morning and I get out of bed the old bones are stiff and I look in the mirror and I think "who is that looking back at me"...
I am fairly active though, so once I have got the bones moving and hair washed and make up on I can look quite human again!

Hi, I don't even look in the mirror anymore (oh, well apart from the hair). Dinger, you are quite clever with your poem! I'm completely stupid and thick when it comes to poems and rhymes.
This morning I actually feel my age. I've got this painful tendon in my right heel and at last I've made the decision to got for a very, very painful injection! Next Tuesday. Goodness, I'm not looking forward to this, but it's either the very lengthy painful injection or hop-a-along all the time. We used to go for lovely walks, but I cannot do that now.
Otherwise, I'm just fine. Got to feel younger than my age with 2 16-year olds! As I always say, it's no fault of mine that I'm the age I am! ;)

I don't really feel my age,I guess I am lucky in that I don't suffer with aches and pains.I go to the gym around three times a week to classes, and I swim once a week.My other half says it is one of the advantages of being 'vertically challenged' there is not too much excess to carry about.I have no doubt the time may come when I succomb to various 'hurts' etc but Im just hoping that is later rather than sooner.
Love your poem dinger, what a talented lady you are.
Crocus,I guess you don't have time to submit to age with two 16 year olds, they will keep you young!

We are all only as old as we feel

True, you are as old as you feel. I've realised that many times. With us being 'older' parents because we had our kids quite late in life, other parents with same age children are quite a lot younger than us. As a result we fall kind of in no 'group' so to speak. Many people of our age have either kids at university, or in some cases, married kids. But that doesn't bother us in the least. We go with the flow, think young for the boys' sake, and kind of go with the flow.
Me and one twin had to travel a distance last Friday, and he took along one of his CD's. I'll tell you, the car actually hopped along on the sound and rhytm of the music. He told me everything there is to know about the CD, the artists, how famous they are. My ears were quite sore when we got to our destination, but if that's what it takes to be a mum to a teenager, I'll do it anytime. Fortunately he only played about 3 tracks!
Im 24 and if I've slept on my back I feel like I've been kicked all night! My back problems make me feel older than I should, but then I can do cartwheels and allsorts still so it's not a lost cause. Just needs management.
People say I'm difficult to age - sometimes they think I'm older and at other times I can get away with being early 20s (as a pose to mid 20s, such a difference don't you know ;) ). I suppose my pastimes and stuff might make me appear older than I am, but the voice inside my head hasn't changed a bit since I was 17 or so.
Now only if I was born 40 years earlier...I might fit in properly!

Oola it's funny I watch things like Miss Marple and wish I had been born earlier too; just the romantic notion of it. One consolation for me is that I did see The Beatles live in Sydney. I had a sore throat for a week from screaming and agonised for days over what to wear incase one of them happened to magically look at me. I think the voice in my head has stayed constant since about 17 too.

I knew an old lady of 82 who said this and now my mother at 86 has just said the same thing (unprompted, and they don't know each other) - I may look like an old lady but inside I am still a girl of 20. Personally I often wonder when I will grow up and have to remind myself that I'm 60 next year and as grown up as I'll ever be! Only our bodies age, our personality feels to stay as young as ever it was.
