Got you!!, I knew you would all look at this thread. It is actually an insert with polo neck (so named after the false front men wore under evening suits), useful under a round necked sweater or a jacket instead of a scarf. I saw this pattern and thought I would give it a go, so now passing on the idea. Uses 1 large ball, mine was from the Pound Shop.
Any interest and I'll type in the pattern, good for bazaars, money raisers and stocking fillers.

That is a great idea as there is less bulk than when you wear a full sweater. There used to be blouse fronts that tied round the back with tape about 50 years ago for ladies to wear with "costumes" (i.e. suits) My aunt who was terribly prim and proper once silenced an entire Edinburgh tearoom when she took her jacket off at the table, forgetting she wasn't actually wearing a blouse underneath, just a "dickie"!!

Didn't we used to knit those in the 60's/70's, gen? I think I had one once, but they mess your hair up when you take them off.
And you can still get a version of the 'blouse' thingy, it's a special scarf you buy (I've mainly seen them at shows) which can be worn a million different ways, and one of the ways demonstrated puts it round your neck, then you cross the two ends at the front and tuck them into the waistband of your suit skirt or trousers, like a blouse front.

I think I've seen those at shows Fran, and liked the idea, but thought at £25 they were a bit expensive.

Me too, but it was always entertaining watching the demonstration.

I used to have two of these when I was a teenager and wore them different colours for different occasions under my coat when I went out. Much more comfortable, less bulky and warmer than a scarf.

Thats a great idea you have Gen would be so much better than wearing a scarf that never stays where you want it too. They should go well for your autumn sale just right for cold winter months warm and cosy . Looking forward to your next creation I love them xxxx

I always look at the craft threads. I thought it was going to be a 'dickie bow'. I think it is a great idea and would love the pattern Gentian. x

I've only just seen this, I thought it was going to be a 'dickie bow' too. I think it's lovely Gentian and a great idea.

I had to laugh at SG's comment - I have experience of prim and proper Edinburgh ladies in their tearooms, I can just imagine the scene!
