Last week we stayed at an old cottage in Herefordshire. We had never been to that county before and found it really nice. Lots of countryside and villages of old black and white cottages. We went because we had seen it on Escape to the country.

The first two photos are the cottage we stayed in. It had the river one side and a mill stream the other so was like being on an island with a bridge over to it. The next is the other side of the bridge and the fourth is the pub we ate in. One night the village music group had their meeting in the pub and it was lovely to listen to the old folk music.

And especially for Crocus, some of the old cottages in the village of Eardisland.

What a beautiful place, dragonfly. Lucky you staying in a cottage next water like that. OH is alwasy saying that he is keen to go back to Herefordshire. He read at a poetry festival there last year and said it was realy pretty, but didn't get the chance to look around much. I am originally from Gloucestershire, next to Herefordshire, so it has never interested me as much, but seeing your photos has made me want to go and have a better look. Thank-you.

Goodness me DF, what lovely cottages eh? I especially like the first pic in the second lot - it reminds me of an episode of Grand Designs in Herefordshire where a young couple had a lovely traditional green oak cottage built - I was completely in love with the place. I think it was in Pemberton.
You surely chose a lovely cottage to holiday in DF. X

It is known as the Welsh Marshes Pippa. We were only there for a week but plan to go back next year when the village has it's open garden weekend. I wish I could afford to live there, it is a beautiful village.

I don't think I've been to Herefordshire, either. Maybe when we get our camper.....

I'm originally from Gloucestershire, and OH goes down to Ledbury fairly often for literary events there. I can't remember it all that well as I left when I was quite a young child, but he is keen to go back down and explore the area some more, as he said it looks very beautiful.
