I bought two pieces of cotton jersey from the Sewing for Pleasure show and now have two new nighties - total cost of both £7.

Those look very jaunty for bedtime, Gen. I love the little pocket on the navy and white striped one, and the candy stripes on the other. Are they ankle-length or knee length, or shorties?!

They are just below the knee Jazz. being tall short nighties cover nothing and ride up, whereas the so called long nighties are mid calf on me and look stupid, so I always make my own. Forgot that Sheddie said stripes were in, Crocus.

They are really nice Gentian and you have made them interesting with lace collar and pocket flap. I thought of you today when I went to a fabric warehouse. There was a vast amount of very interesting fabric at cheap prices. I also bought some packets of beads for necklaces. I just need the time to make all the projects I've got planned.

When you go again DF, I'll carry your bag. I would be drooling over cheap fabric, which I cannot really justify as I have so much waiting.
I have beautiful piece I want to make into an evening jacket, but it needs thinking about.

I had to have a trolley Gentian. I am in a quilting class and went for some material to finish a project but came away with enough for 6 more. I can't resist a bargain even knowing I will never have time to use it all. I thought I would have lots of free time when I finished work but I'm finding I could still do with a few extra hours a day. I have instigated a needlework class at U3A, as they didn't have one, so I will be asking you for ideas when it gets going (simple ones, nothing as difficult as making an evening jacket).

Good for you DF. When I joined the textile group of U3A the first technique I learned was Faux Chenille (or slash work) and made a bag and a jacket. It's so easy. There's an idea for you.

That's a really interesting technique, Gen, does it make the fabric very stiff? I have taken up your suggestion about Paverpol and bought some to stiffen the backs of some felt flowers that I am using to display my jewellery on. It really works well, doesn't it? Do you have to be 50 or 55 to join U3A? I commented to our local convenor that I'll be able to join in 2 years time and she said that it is 55+, not 50+.

Generally there is no lower age limit, it is for older people no longer in full time work..
Glad you enjoyed using paverpol.

Wow they look great Gentian. The bag is a good idea but don't know about the jacket until we are more experienced.
