This was sent in by Elaine Hoeney who says she only needed to make three cakes and her symptoms disappeared only twice in the following few years did she need to make two more cakes to get rid of all the symptoms .Today she occasionally sprinkles seeds on food and is totally symptom free.
I hope she won't mind me sharing this with you .

That's an interesting recipe, dinger. I have copied it into my recipes folder. I eat quite a lot of the seeds described as I sprinkle them on salads, on top of pasta etc, but a cake which also includes soya sounds like a sensible plan.

Thanks for the recipe Dinger.
I was on HRT and wanted to control hot flushes naturally, so I read up on it and have been adding the seeds in the recipe to my cerials for years with great success.
Lately I have added celery seeds and have lowered my blood pressure 20 notches.

Can I also recommend Soya and Linseed bread? (Vogel's and Burgen are 2 well-known makes). But a word of warning - if you have had BC and are on herceptin etc, I don't think it is wise to have soya as it behaves like Oestrogen which is why it is a good HRT substitute. "Natural" remedies aren't always totally benign!

Thanks for that recipe Dinger. I had forgotten about HRT cake. I will make one this week. I also use a lot of seeds on salads, yog etc. I usually dry fry them which makes them even crunchier.

I think I even have all the ingredients apart from soya milk.

Have just re-read the recipe - should the soya milk be half a pint?

Hi Dinger, I googled a bit and found this recipe - it appears to almost the same - and here's the link where I found it: (the recipe follows below)

Recipe for Menopause Cake

4ozs/100g Soya flour
4ozs/100g wholemeal flour (replace with more oats for wheat free loaf)
4ozs/100g rolled oats
4ozs/100g linseeds
2ozs/50g pumpkin seeds
2ozs/50g flaked almonds or walnuts or any other nuts
2ozs/50g sesame seeds
2ozs/50g sunflower seeds
2 pieces of finely chopped stemmed ginger (optional)
8ozs/225g raisins or dates or cranberries
½ teaspoon nutmeg
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground ginger
15 fl oz/425ml Soya milk
1 tablespoon malt extract

Method:

Put all the dry ingredients into a large bowl. Add Soya milk and malt extract, mix well and leave to soak for about 30 minutes to one hour.
Heat the oven to 190°C/375°F/gas 5.
Line a small loaf tin with baking parchment.
If the mixture ends up too stiff (it should have a soft dropping consistency), stir in some more Soya milk.
Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for about one to one and a half hours.
Test with a skewer to check its cooked properly.
Turn out and cool.
Eat one thick slice of Menopause Cake a day.
