I bet you all have a button box with lots of odd buttons, never enough for the garment you are making. Many of us have inherited buttons and many a beautiful but just not enough.
This necklace took 160 flat buttons and 1 with a shank, a doubled length of thread and 19 beads.

Gosh gen, that's lovely! I've made necklaces with pearl buttons facing out, but not like this one.

What a good idea Gentian. It looks good because you have used different size buttons to give it shape.

Thanks both, I get a lot of pleasure when wearing it and people comment, their faces are a picture when I tell them and they move closer for another look.

Like your necklace, Gen. Years ago I bought quite a few old glass buttons. I might use them to make a necklace for myself. Thanks for yet another idea.

It's amazing how many you need BW, good luck and a pic when you have finished.

That looks good, Gen. All those buttons must have taken a lot of counting and threading. You have that kind of cryptic mind though, don't you, so I would imagine that you really enjoyed making it.

Lovely Gentian, I love old buttons and don't know if you recall seeing the pic of the button necklace I bought.Don't know if Crocus could find that, it was quite a time ago. X

Okay, I found it. It's in NTN, '120 000 buttons'. I posted something on it now, in order to bring it to the front again. x

Hope so, it was requested by the grooms mother, via her gdaughter who is a work colleague. I'm not quite sure what the etiquette is for muslim weddings, who supplies what, but I'd have thought a bride would have chosen and ordered her own bouquet.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and cheapness of the flowers, some were a bit plasticy, but these were really lifelike.

Pakistani Weddings are usually quite colourful so your bouquet will look lovely Fran. xx

Just the right colours and style, Fran. It must have been quite a challenge to get it right. At traditional Muslim weddings there are several different stages, with the grooms family doing most of the organising. The brides family just contribute the dowry and pay for different smaller aspects. I would have asked if she could smuggle me along with the flowers...

Lovely boquet Fran and being silk flowers she will be able to keep it, unless there is a tradition of putting it somwhere that they have to keep.

Wow that is lovely Fran . The flowers look so real. Do you remember years ago things like that were made and placed under glass domes.

So much talent here and really lovely opening up the pics to see them.

Our daughter made me a button necklace when she was in hospital and I cherish it.
