you can tell how another person feels by their eyes or if you can trust them .

They say they are the windows of the soul and some people avoid eye contact altogether, what does that mean?

Hi, I look at people's mouths when they speak, because I like to see how they form their words! Sounds strange, but I've always done this. I'm well aware of it, so I do try to rather look them straight in the eye.

Hi! Dinger, I tend to look at people's hands along with their eyes and mouths. It is amazing how people can try to control their expressions and the way that they speak, but then their hands often tell you something else.

When I was a child, I was brought up very strictly with people who only liked me conditionally. One of the behaviours I had to always perform was to look at people straight in the eye when they were talking to me 'LOOK at me when I am talking to you'
Anyway, since that time, looking straight at people has caused all sorts of problems and people find it disturbing. So, over the years I have adjusted my behaviour to looking into people's eyes to indicate I am listening, then looking a bit beyond their face or hair when I am responding. I find this makes people comfortable. WHAT a pallarver!!

I know this seems rude but do you ever look at someone who is speaking and get bored mid sentence and just switch off - I do and my daughter does this too, but it's awful if they're waiting for an answer and you say yes instead of no - it's a habit I must break!

Hi Sheddy, we all have our little habits - makes us quite unique, don't you think? What you've said about switching of - it happened to me on a few occasions, especially when the conversation is not all that interesting! You then really struggle to look interested, with your mind going in different directions.

Sheddie and Crocus, I'm afraid I'm with you both on the switching off process. I don't mean to be rude but sometimes a conversation of no interest to me just goes on and on and I switch off. Quite embarassing when then asked to comment on something.. To the original question I can usually judge how I feel about someone by studying them during a conversation, and yes Eyes are the windows of the soul; meaning that they do reveal what the person is like on the inside.

you naughty girls switching off like that. i must admit i'm one of those who tries to listen.to give a good answer to show i'm listening. if i lose concentration i must admit i then waffle out nonsense to make out i'm interested.
