I have finished my latest project. Paverpol is a liquid which when watered down and dried with a hair dryer makes fabric stiff and waterproof.
The crowns are not as big as a tennis ball and I have attached them to artists' canvases 5" x 7". Most of the flowers I have made, others are lace or ribbon.
The first one is made from stockinette used for cleaning.
The second is a paper serviette strengthened with machine stitches.
The third is two layers of nylon lace.
The fourth I crocheted.
Hope you like them.

I love them Gentian. I did a crochet one once and stiffened it with some stuff I had from America. It has given me an idea for making dolls hats.

I like your hats, Gen. Will have to look around if I can get something like Paverpol over here. Would like to make a hat for one of my dolls........and then maybe some hats for our charity bazaar (if I may steal your idea?)

Paverpol, BW, is a Dutch product and can be bought on line. I think we got ours from Art Van Go.

Gentian, the little hats are so lovely! I love the crocheted one and also the first one. It's really lovely. I agree with Dinger, you can do very well at craft markets. xx

I googled Paverpol last night. There are quite a few videos online.

I don't sell, Crocus, I can't bear to part with them and I only make one offs, too boring to repeat anything.
I looked too BW and I am thinking of a larger free standing piece of abstract art, we'll see!!

They look great, Gen. Paverpol seems really good. My felting tutor says that it works well to stiffen felt for hats etc as it doesn't mess up the material. I am going to look on the Art Van Go site to see if I can get some. I am trying to imprint patterns from lace onto my silver jewellery, but the pieces that I have are too soft, so perhaps Paverpol will make them stiff enough to use. I think that your little hats would also be great filled with lavender and rose as pomanders.

Years ago I got this idea to make a scarecrow for my garden (and maybe some other figures from the Wizard of Oz) but I never liked the idea that on a rainy day it would get all soggy and in the end propably mildewy. Looking at the Paverpol site brought this back to me. It states that the material soaked in Paverpol and painted with some varnish is waterproof. So, maybe this summer I might just act on my old idea.

Good luck both I'm glad I was able to share some new ideas with you.
Not starting another project until I have tidied my craft room and got some of the ones on the go nearer completion.
