I'm reading "The Lost Symbol" by Dan Brown. I can't put it down, but know it is only a clever manipulation of information he has gleaned.

Not a whole lot of time to read - I'm quite tired when I go to bed because of visiting sis!

I have just started Josephine Cox - Take this Woman. I've not read Born Bad Dinger.

I have just finished reading Congo Kitabu by Jean-Pierre Hallet. It is a true account of his years in the Belgian Congo until they were kicked out in 1960. It was fascinating as I didn't know much about the history of Africa and as we have an RM family in South Africa I wanted to know more about it.

Howards End is on the Landing by Susan Hill, a year of reading from home. All about reading books you have at home on your shelves that you have never read, lots of reminders of old favourites.

I have loads of books at home that I have read, and haven't read. I probably never need to go to a bookshop or the library ever again, but of course I will as buying books is one of my great pleasures in life! I am currently reading Pontoon by Garrison Keillor. Like his other novels, it is set in the fictional, sleepy, American town of Lake Woebegon and is about a lively elderly woman who dies and leave a set of intriguing instructions for her cremation. Through these her daughter and grandson discover that she led a very different life to even the NTN one that they knew. He writes very beautifully. OH has just finished that Susan Hill book, Pippa.

We've got a lovely bookshop in town here where you can buy very good 2nd hand books, and if you have a book or two you want to sell, it comes of the price of the books you want to buy. She's planning on expanding her shop as well. She has a very wide range of topics, fiction, literature, history, travel, politics, religion, name it, it's there. It's a small shop, but very well organised so it's a real treat to browse about in there. Sorry, this is off topic, but I like browsing about in her shop. I'm trying to find books by Flora Thompson, but nor the library or this bookshop have anything on here. Will keep on searching though. x

I'm also still busy reading "Talking for Britain" in between other reads as it's not a novel, more 'research', so ongoing and I love it. x

I have just finished Winter in Madrid by CJ Sansom. It is about the Spanish civil war and the part Spain played in WW11. Sounds boring but it was an excellent novel and taught me a lot about Franco etc.

I've just started "My heart is my own" by John Guy - "a biography that reads as thrillingly as a detective story" according to The Sunday Times. It's about the life of Mary, Queen of Scots. It's rather a thick book so will keep me busy quite a while. I've just finished a more relaxed book from Katie Fforde - "The Rose Revived'.
