No not nits!!
I have just spent over an hour looking at baby patterns (new grandbaby in April - don't know the sex, so problem with colours!!) and I didn't like more than one or two and even those were uninspiring. When my own were little I used Phildar patterns (French) which were really stylish and quite unusual although simple AND dead easy. I can't find these anywhere except Ebay and I am being outbid there. Can anyone help either with a source or from their own collection?
My skills are limited but as a granny-to-be I feel I have to knit a little jacket!

I've got loads of patterns sg, I'll have a look over the weekend.
Have you tried Laughing hens? www.laughinghens.com they do very nice debby bliss patterns too and they are a wide range from simple purls to fair isle. If you have a fax machine I might be able to copy one or two and send it to you, as I happen to have an older Debby Bliss book ( about 15 years old and in English!)

Good suggestion, Ivy I've had a look on the website and the Debbie Bliss patterns look lovely, I also like her eco range and the idea of using soft cotton, so I will investigate further. Thank you very much!

Hi SG, I found this on the net as well, perhaps there's something you can use?

I recently bought a couple of nice baby patterns from a charity shop. They usually have lots and might have something you like SG.

Yes, of course you're going to knit a school sweater too, but perhaps a little white or yellow (or baby green) jacket will be better ....?;)

Depends how quickly SG knits, Crocus! Thanks for the links, my hairdresser announced on Saturday that she's expecting her first in June and it crossed my mind to make her something for the baby, but wasn't sure whether to make a jacket or a toy. And of course I'm supposed to be finishing off a chenille cable jumper but am realising why I gave up on the dratted thing in the first place!
