I have a number of vintage blankets and eiderdowns that are taking up too much space. If anyone wants one, send me a message, I have a list.

Would they fit a 160 cm wide bed - we prefer blankets and eiderdowns to duvets but it's well nigh impossible to buy anything larger than a single bed size out here.
Can I be really girly and ask what colour blankets you have? May be interested, thanks!
I would love a blanket for my bed! I was planning on knitting a bedspread this year but never got round to it....

Me too Oola but ended up knitting a sweater instead. I have a recipe for knitting squares and I plant to that with all my oddments of double knitting wool. I'll get my blanket eventually!

I no longer want the blankets and eiderdown. We've managed to find a super king size feather but breathable (and washable) duvet and it is now gracing our bed. We'd have liked a wool one but they are super warm and too warm for our house. The crunch came because we have an old Swiss king size bed and it not designed for blankets - there isn't room to tuck them in at the bottom and attempting to do so made my back threaten to go on strike. So it's back to a duvet.
Redstartyou can always use your homespun wool for a blanket. And funny how can you not like duvets? I just can't cope with blanket and sheets but it certainly depends on what you grew up with.

I prefer duvets Ivy, it's my husband who wanted to go back to blankets and we did so for four or five years. However, I'm really happy to be back with a duvet and it makes life a lot easier - not just easier bed making but being able to buy the bedding locally and in the right size.

Thanks for your interest. Now my visitors have gone home and I can get to the cupboard, I'll tell you more tomorrow. Fran.

Right, the blankets are all natural coloured, except a pair of lemon Witney ones which are 72x90 inches or 183x228 cms.
There are 2 at 74x89 ins or 188x226 cms, and 1 at 78x94 ins or 198x239 cms. They are all well used but wholesome. Some have stains which I cannot remove.
There is also a piece of green honeycomb blanket 28x65 ins or 71x165 cms, would cover the seat and back of a chair.
The eiderdowns are 2 pale green singles, a black/floral single, and a black/floral 54 ins wide. You can have any blanket for the cost of postage. Some of the eiderdowns have been cleaned and I would appreciate the refund of that cost.

Franbee do you still have your blankets and eiderdowns that you want to get rid of as I would be interested?
This summer I went back to sheets and blankets as I found that having 100% cotten sheets have helped with my night sweats, plus I just love the idea of having the blanket again it make the bed feel so cosy again. :)

Hi HH, I have listed my 'stock' earlier in this thread. I don't think the sizes are particularly big, but have a look for yourself.

Hi Franbee,I have just been reading through this thread and MAY be able to find a home for at least one if not both of your eiderdowns.I have a friend living in the south of England whose husband prefers bedding to a duvet, and she has has awful trouble getting eiderdowns.I will mention this too her and see if she's interested.

Thanks Kate, just let me know. You can buy them from vintage textile shops, probably at vintage textile prices!
