We have double glazed windows but the old metal frame type . every morning there are puddles on the sills and i have to dry down all the windows . Any advice on how to lessen this problem would be appreciated.

The hotter and damper the air, the more likely you are to get condensation when the air cools down. Try to keep doors shut on steamy kitchens and bathrooms, and open those windows for a short while whilst the heating is still on to drive the moist air out. Close the windows before the heating goes off. If the problem is huge, a dehumidifier might help.

Try drilling two small holes through the base of the double glazed window frame right to the outside, dinger. This allows some cool air to circulate in just around the window so that the air that touches it isn't too hot when it reaches the cold window, which is what creates the condensation. We had that situation in the bathroom of our first house, and the same window as you have, and it worked. I read about it in a 1960s DIY book.
Even modern double glazed windows have a similar solution built into them - either a small notch at the sides, or in the case of the brand new double glazing in this house a little air vent that you open or close in the top of the window frame.
