I have but my O/H says he doesn't know why I bother with one.
Half the time I don't hear it ring and when I do hear it, it takes me so long to fish it out of my bag that it's long stopped ringing by the time it's in my hand!

yes i have one.its a faithful old nokia.no new fangled ones for me. i use it for texting mostly. its very handy when your meeting some-one in town.or if hubby needs get in touch,to get him something whilst i'm out.i dont always hear it.so most people text me.its a nice surprise then when you go to your phone and you have a message.had one half hour ago left to me off my sister.theres a barn dance in the manor house oposite her house.so tonight i will be ringing round other sisters getting it organised.

Yes, have one too, but only for texting as well. All the other million functions I don't know half of the time what to do with! The boys get very cross with me when I don't use some of the other functions! The camera is handy I might add. Also had the 'faithfull old nokia' at one stage.

I have one and although I don't use it a huge amount,I wouldn't be without it.Like you eleanor,I have a nokia, and I wouldn't have any other as it is so easy to use.The only people who ring me are my daughter and my husband if I'm out without him for some reason, but I mostly use it for texting etc.

What did we do before texting?

Hi CountryLady, nice to see you again in congenial surroundings,I guess we used the telephone (not mobile) before texting but getting an instant message to someone without the home phone is so useful isn't it,I guess I am guilty of taking for granted the small amount of modern technology that I have.

I have a nokia, but only use it for texting and calls, I loved my old one which I lost - don't start me off on that again! I don't know how to use the camera, always grateful for any help though. You can't miss my ring it is a bell that sounds like the banker on deal or no deal.

I have a new nokia donated by my son when my faithful motorola died. I have it on silent mostly, so people can leave me messages, but it's great when you're meeting someone. I think I've got the hang of the predictive text now...Fran.

You're clever fran, predictive text indeed.Sometimes I go a blank and can't get my head round normal.

It's one of those things you have to think about in a different way, a bit like the difference between normal cooking and microwave cooking, and struggled with that at first. Fran.

I have a mobile phone, but only keep it in the car in case I break down or have an accident. I just don't like the idea of people constantly keeping tabs on me and expecting to be able to contact me at any time. Not that I am up to anything unusual, I just like having my own space when I am out and about. I think that Nokia is the best, but isn't suitable for this area, so mine is a Motorola O2. If only there was an ethical mobile and network.

I must be one of the few people in the world that has never had a mobile phone. I dislike the telephone at the best of times; it always rings at the wrong time. I use email for most contact now. I hate being out in shops and restaurants and having someone loudly talking on their mobile. It is so rude. I will admit that for emergencies and car breakdowns I think they are a good idea but for now I will resist a while longer.

I have one for emergencies and as often as not the battery fails through lack of use. I keep having to remember to phone my direct line phone to be able to top the battery up! As I work from home I don't really need one. Anyway, I really don't want to be accessible at all hours of the day. like jenniferu, I prefer to use e-mail.

I remember when "being out" was "being out". Think I preferred it that way!

Predictive text always annoys me,I can't really cope with it so I go the long way round but get there in the end!!

No, and whilst I can see the use in an emergency, the rest of the time I find them annoying, and the people who simply can't be parted from them, who always seem to want to be chatting away walking down the street, in shops, on buses and so on, equally annoying and a bit sad really.
