Has anyone perhaps read this book? It was a question asked on the program "Who want's to be a Millionare". I'm intrigued by the name, and Google says it's a hilarious novel. Anyone perhaps know anything about it? Thanks! xxx

I remember watching it on TV many years ago and it was a real hoot.

Hi Gen, I've googled it and noticed that it was a tv series. Sounds quite interesting. x

I read the book years ago, crocus, and although it was funny in parts, I had mixed feelings about it. There is a follow up book that is set in South Africa, that is supposed to be as funny, but which I didn't enjoy at all - can't remeber the title, though. I think that Tom Sharpe is a bit of a mixed bag.

The title and the front page of this book is a bit difficult to bring together, so your description of "mixed bag" makes sense Jazz. Who knows, perhaps the tv series will come our way and we can see what it's about.

I saw the TV series many years ago and can't rememeber much about it except that I enjoyed it and it was funny.

I think I'll have a look whether the book's available in our library.

I was hilarious on TV, I agree. I've never read any of his books though, not sure if I always "get" so-called funny books
