Well, OH and I went away on our week to the Yorkshire Moors, but what do you know but we were both so ill with this nasty cold that is going around that we had to come back early. OH became ill with it on our first weekend away in Ilkley and we came back home for a week during which time I had it so badly that I can't even remember the week! We decided to go to the holiday cottage thinking that we would just stay in for a couple of days and a change is as good as a holiday. However, by that time I had re-infected OH and we both felt so rough that we couldn't even move from room to room without collapsing, let alone feed ourselves! So, we decided to return home. We are feeling quite a lot better now, but still not great. What a holiday, and it is the first time in 5 years that OH has taken a whole two weeks off work at once too. We had originally intended to go somewhere really exotic, like India, but just as well that we didn't as it turned out. Oh well, better luck next year... I can't remember much about the Yorkshire Moors other than the whole area didn't look very appealing. Perhaps you know differently?

Hi Jazz, I'm sorry to hear about all the colds and stuff which caused you to cut short your holiday! Hopefully it can be rectified at a later stage eh? About the Yorkshire Moors - I don't know a lot about it, except for Ampleforth where we had a stopover in a B%B and also Helmsley (Castle) a bit further on. Byland Abby is quite close to Ampleforth, is highlighted in the evening which looks quite spectacular. Across the road from the abby there's a pub (can't remember the name) but it is well-known for it's food and it's accommodation. That's about all I know about the Moors. We love the Yorkshire Dales as you might know and just this morning I told MrC that Laura's Teashop in Hawes won't be a bad idea for tea and scones! (I'm not sure whether it still exists though). xx

jazz how awful to have such bad colds whilst on holiday.the yorkshire moors sounds a very intriguing place to have a cottage holiday.
