I used to do a heck of a lot of sports - county athletics, trampolining and swimming to name a few. I even managed to great (!) accolade of becoming 3 counties under 13 shot putt champion! I did have a good laugh about that. My main sports were long jump, shot put and discus, although I did occasionally get roped into doing high jump and relay for the club. Eventually my back problems and laziness put an end to all that though.

I was even a complete sadist and used to be a member of the cross country club in my middle school! I don't know why I did it, I used to find it so hard and didn't enjoy it all that much! I remember doing a biathlon though and quite enjoyed running through the woods. It's really good when you managed to get intro a stride and can keep going.

I would love to go back to trampolining, and I still swim occasionally, but overall my fitness and bendyness is nothing like it used to be. When I've got my new swimming costume I'm definitely going to start swimming twice every week again. I did try yoga but it was at a difficult time for me and I used to come away feeling quite anxious...strange really! I think now I could go back and try it again though...just a shame I gave my mat and yoga blocks away on freecycle! I also do a fair amount of gardening, although digging wreaks havoc with my back problems.

I'm afraid I used to avoid cross country and school sports like the plague ( the number of times I volunteered to tidy the library books, sort the book cupboard out, etc.). However I took up yoga at 16 and have been doing it on and off every since - and it's when I'm not doing yoga that I have back problems, etc. I really do need to do it every day.

In my early forties I decided to take myself in hand and took up jogging, aerobics and badminton, but a torn leg muscle got the doctor telling me I was doing too much and stop aerobics and badminton and walk rather than jog. So I did and for several years we regularly walked up (and down) the local mountains.

Since my old injured toes developed arthritis the walking has been curtailed - and I've put weight on. So now I try and make sure I do some walking everyday, but no more than 30 minutes or it hurts; and I will do 30 minutes of yoga a day as well - I will, I will, I will!

I was always picked for the netball team as I was tall but I much preferred hockey - let me at 'em with me hockey stick! I wasn't at all afraid to get right in there.
These days sport for me is excercising my fingers across this keyboard!

You were quite a bunch of active sporting girls! I only did tennis at school! Until not so long ago me and hubby went for nice long walks, but now I have developed a very painful foot (underside of foot in the heel) and it's a struggle to just move around the house! Must go for an injection, but goodness me, that's even more painful!

I love badminton and trampolining, I work for the local council as a trampolining coach, but don't get much chance to do any myself. I enjoy swimming and keep fit/gym but don't swim as often as I should, I have a keep fit 'buddy'. I meet a friend at the gym twice a week, we used to go to the pictures or just stay in chatting and drinking coffee, 4 years ago we joined a gym, and meet there, sometimes for only a quick chat, but it gets us there, we can chat whilst on the bikes!
