I cannot resist cushions and put so many on the sofa and in the chairs there is hardly room to sit. I like the traditional sort and just have to buy them, but always at boot sales. Do you like cushions? X:)

I like cushions, I make my own covers. But OH finds them a nuisance, he just piles them on the floor, or leaves them in a squashed heap on the chairs.

I love cushions! I also make my own covers, love doing it actually. I bought some lovely covers in the UK (tapestry kind of fabric) and always try to buy some new covers when we visit. With me being quite short, sofas are always to deep and I can't sit comfortably, and I always have a cushion behind my back. xx

Cushions to me are like accessories or even jewellery - the finishing or "personalising" touches to a room. I'm with you Sheddie!

My OH too, Fran, he hates them, but I make all my own cushions and they are all representative of different sewing techniques.

I've got loads of cushion fronts I've made at workshops, they all need finishing off, but often the colours are wrong for me. Mum used to be happy to have them, but then they all came back.

My OH moans when I have bought yet more cushions and always throws his out of the chair too, but I just love to fluff them up and see loads, I shall also be getting my tartan rugs out to fold and put across the back of sofa. I do like my home comforts and they don't cost much at all. X

I have been resting on the sofa tonight with the dogs and I have had 3 cushions piled up to rest my legs on, a couple to rest my head on and it has been snuggy and lovely. X

That's how cushions should be used sheddie.

OH found another very large cushion out that I bought at a car boot so I now have another one, my legs will soon be up to the ceiling. X

I'm with you, Sheddie, I love cushions! (although if I'm planting myself in an armchair I do tend to chuck all the cushions off first - my fault for having such a big bum). Since my silk-painting and quilting days I've got quite a large collection, but my favourites are the two big applique cushions I bought in Egypt, which are on my (very big) sofa and which prop me up for telly-watching evenings. There's also a rather disgusting squab kept behind the sofa (because of tatty cover) which goes on top of me for protection: both cats are 'treaders' when parked on something soft and squidgy (ie, me) and apt to forget to keep the meathooks to themselves, sinking them into my inner thigh causing immediate loss of concentration at dramatic moments crucial to plot or punchline. When Juno (the most regular lap-dancer) developed a drooling habit to go with the kneading action I decided enough was enough and sacrificed my biggest cushion, so now everyone's happy (although I do get rather hot at times).

I can just imagine you lying there covered in cushions and cats, annie! I am also a cushion fan and have quite a few. My favourite is a half size, rectangular one with a family of curlews embroidered on it. I bought it in a charity shop years ago and it lives on the rocking chair. It's the perfect size for the small of my back. My OH also can't see the point of cushions and says that another word for woman should be "cushion" since we seem to like them so much.

Talking about big bums I am finding it hard to get enough room to sit but my they are cosy. X

I don't have many cushions and as you all seem to have lovely ones I think you should all post some photos of them.

Some of my cushions. First and 3rd pic are cushions I had made, I just loved the fabric and had to have it, the other two are covers I bought in England.

These were my granny's and very special to me as well. The cushion covers I made is just functional, not at all spectacular or anything.

Thank you Crocus, they are very interesting. My mum had some covers like your grannies which surprises me as you are thousands of miles apart.

I wish I knew where my granny got those covers from. Ever since I can remember these covers were on the sofa in her lounge. xx
