I have finished it.
These are circles of fabric with a running thread round the edge, pulled up and flattened. Joined together they were used to make quilts when fastened together and attached to a backing fabric.
I wanted to have this example of patchwork to include it in my talks and made the cushion cover, a quilt is a bit of a tall order for me.

That looks good Gentian, a good contrast. I remember doing these years ago, how fiddly they are, a quilt would have been toomuch for me also. You must have a good collection of different styles of patchwork by now.

Gentian they look lovely and quite different to ordinary patchwork. You must have lots of things you have made, where do you keep them all, do you have a craft room?

Hi Df, too many things really, but I can't stop. I generally have about 50 items for my talks and these are generally in use in use. The pictures I hang in my craft room, so have a bit of a gallery.
These are some of the different types of patchwork I have.
The first is cathedral window, 2nd - felted squares, 3rd log cabin, 4th ribbon weaving, 5th Random pieces of curtaining which were also made into a jacket.

Gen - they are truly beautiful.

Several years ago I bought a cushion at a craft fair that had like pieces of material raised - I just wish I could attach photos again. Must have another try but it had to have been made be someone with the same passion as you.

When buying from true craft people like yourself - I feel the passion for creating it comes through.

Thank you for sharing it. xx

Thanks Dinger, it's a passion I have and it takes over. At the moment I am working on a pair of pictures in fabric which have a Renee Mackintosh theme of squares. If they turn out OK I'll post some pics - don't hold your breath!

Those are nice, Gen. I seem not to have the photo of the Suffolk Puffs, is there any chance that you could post it on again? I know how you feel about a passion for crafts taking over your life. I now have loads of felting wool and half finished projects and the Knitting and Stitching Show is on again on November. I know that I won't be able to resist...

Sure Jaz, I took it off when the site was overloaded. I'm thinking of using different size puffs to make a picture of a faxglove or maybe delphinium.

There is a Knitting and Stiching Show in Dublin this weekend. Hope I get time to go there.

Lucky you BW I'd love to be there, I will have to wait until March when the show comes to the NEC near Birmingham.

Gosh, what an interesting style of patchwork, Gen. It looks similar to a description that I have of an American quilting style where circles are made and stuffed with wool and then gathered into a ball. These are then attached to one another and to a backing fabric.

Just finished a baby quilt for my grandson. It's one of those printed panels you can buy. I handquilted all the animals on it and finished the edges off by machine. Would have made them by hand as well if I had had more time. But it needs to be washed now and as we are off on Thursday there just wasn't enough time. But this way the little one won't be able to take it apart so easily. Wanted to put a picture on, but somehow it didn't work. Have to try again some other time.

That's it Jazz, but mine are not stuffed. Tedious to make but worth it, I think.
