My goodness! How difficult it is to get your own money out of a bank / building society. OH and I had an appointment this morning, as our two annual ISAs are maturing and we decided that we want to withdraw this part of our savings and use it for some items that we need and our planned holiday to India later in the year. However, we must have met with the bank's number one money Rottweiler, as there was no way that she was going to let us withdraw our money and just transfer it to a current account with another bank to do something as frivolous as spend it. We battled it out and went through the whole gamut of options repeating that we just want the easiest option to transfer and spend it. No chance, in the end it became so complicated that we have ended up with only one being transferred and with a hefty charge for the transfer to a different bank too! Well, we were always under the impression that it was our money... Have any of you had this type of experience with a bank / building society?

I had the same trouble, because on the form I got when it matured there were several options, but not closing the account. I had to make an appontment to see the only person who knew how to do it and it took 1&1/2 hours before I walked out with a cheque. I said I would not leave without it.

I have drawn money out of the ISA with no trouble at all. I had trouble putting money in though. I didn't put any in one year and when I went to put some in the following year I had to re-apply to use my own account.

Isn't it annoying when you go in for one thing and they try to talk you into borrowing more and offering you a plastic card to try to get you in debt? X
