Oh dear. I'm with my one eye, but both ears, watching, "Globetrekker" on the telly, this episode being about Scotland. Megan McCormick hosts the programme. And now my heart aches to be there. It could be Crieff, it could be Pitlochry, it could Loch Ness, it could be Loch Lomond, it could be Craighalachi (sp),
Oban, anywhere really. I would just like to be there. At this very moment she's on Islay at the Ardberg Distilleray. Of course the music makes it all the more lovely to watch. xxx

years ago we went to Islay and went round, I think, the Bowmore distillery. We had our labrador with us because we never left her behind and I expected to have to sit outside with her because of hygiene issues, but it was "Och no, bring the wee dog in, she'll be just fine!!" So the dog (also called islay!) plodded throught the distillery, sniffing the piles of malt or barley or whatever it was and at the tasting at the end was brought a huge bowl of water. So much for "Health and safety" eh!!

Another memory of Islay (the island) was that we came upon a village hall claiming to be holding a "Display of Islay life" - daughter was very disappointed not to find any tins of pedigree chum, leads, bones etc!! (But we have a treasured pic of her beside the sign for the exhibition with Islay the black lab)

Hopefully we will be able to visit this island as well Mull, and Skye as well in future, near future will be ideal, but we will have to wait and see what happens in the next year or so. x
