Goodnight Annie

My lovely head hen Annie died yesterday. She was such a lovely hen....beautiful caramel coloured feathers and sooo happy after we rescued her last year. The remaining three hens are at a loss today. Lucy went to bed early tonight after being henpecked. I suppose they are sorting out who is going to be head hen now. Our consolation is that she had a lovely life for the past 18 months. The flock have been very happy and so close.

Oh dear me Sunflower! I remember how excited you were about the hens. So sorry to hear about Annie. Fortunately you gave her a very good life the last 18 months.

Sorry to hear about Annie, sunflower. I remember how thrilled you were to get your hens. At least you gave her the very best life for what she had left of it, and I'm sure that she loved it. I think that hens don't generally live all that long, but we are just so used to our cats and dogs going long-term that it seems such a shock when it happens. RIP Annie. X
