OH and I used to deal in these when we had our architectural shop and yard. I have now caught up with an old freind of mine that deals in these fulltime and his son fits them.He says they are as popular as they ever were.:)

we only have a reproduction very simple georgian fireplace surround, and only one working fireplace in the house, but it's much better than not. I have to say I can't stand the 20s/30s/40s/50s fireplaces, it's got to be Georgian, Victorian or very early 20th century fire surrounds for me.

OH used to make rustic pine ones from reclaimed tiber, I like the old pine and so does my daughter, but the inserts would have to be early for me too.I suppose Deco can be nice if the whole house is on this period.
