Does anyone have an old manual typewriter with metal keys that you are willing to sell for a reasonable price? I am looking for one as I want to try out typing onto thin silver for some of my jewellery designs, so it doesn't need to be in great condition. I have been looking in charity shops etc but, as with so many things, at one time there seemed to be lots available, but never when you want one! Any other suggestions welcome too.

Jazz I have one that I would like to keep but will look out in charity shops for another one for you. As you say there used to be lots about but not recently. I still think charity shops are the best bet as they do get them occasionally.

The very old fashioned typewriters are being bought up now so that people can take the keys off for steampunk style jewellery and devices...

Jazz, have you tried asking on freecycle? Someone may have one tucked away.

Jazz you can pick these up cheap in General Auctions usually, people don't want to lift the weight so they normally go very cheap. I have sold several mangles for this purpose too. X
