Hi all! Sadly, OH has just broken the clock face on my favourite clock that we bought on our honeymoon! I had decided to move the TV to a better spot and lifted it up, at the same time asking OH to pick up the clock on the mantelpiece next to it so that it didn't break. Bizarrely, instead of just picking it up he went behind me to try to pick it up from the other side of me... and, of course, knocked it off instead as he couldn't reach properly. Grrr! It is just a woodturned clock with a battery operated movement, and had a plain white china-type face 90mm in diameter. Does anyone know if I can buy a replacement face anywhere? I have just looked on the internet but can't see anything similar. Much appreciated - Jazz.

Oh dear me Jazz, that's quite sad! Hopefully one of the members will be able to help in a way. Have you tried typing in your clock's name or something? I don't know if this will be of any help whatsoever, and probably you've already searched these links ...... xxx

Thanks for your suggestions. The clock was handcrafted by a woodturner and the face was a kind of plain white china with black numerals, but as it is nearly 20 years old I am hoping that somewhere still produces the faces and I can just buy another one to fit into the wooden surround. The original maker must have got it from somewhere. I have always loved this clock, as it is so simple and was the first handcrafted item that we bought for our home. Men, eh...

You can take it to one of the old clock repair shops (there are still a few around) and see if they can fix it for you. If they can't they might be able to put a new movement behind the face so the clock looks the same even though the workings are new. I did this with an old clock.

Thanks DF. The workings are OK and are still ticking along beside me now, minus the face. Unfortunately, it was the clock face that shattered, so I now have two separate pieces - the movement and the wooden surround! I'll see if there is a clock repair shop anywhere (there is a pen one in kendal, so you never know!), but I have a feeling that the face may have been handcrafted by a potter to go with the surround... so maybe I need to try to find a potter who can recreate it.

Jazz if you could find a potter to make one for you you could design it yourself and have something memorable to you and oh put on it. That would be really unique.
