Had a day out in The Cotswolds today and ventured as far as Burford, a place we rarely visit because of the parking, but found one for free, with a stream and ducks where we had our picnic lunch. Here are som e of the photos i took, mostly self explanatory. Beside the font was a tray of sand where you were invited to write your confessions and then smooth them away, literally.

Hi Gentian, these piccies are a delight to me, because Burford is one of the villages we visited on our last trip to the UK. It's a lovely village. You sure had a lovely day out. Have you perhaps been to Bibury where Arlington Row is? It's not far from Burford. Also a lovely village. xx

Unfortunately not. We were planning on having lunch their that day, but still had to travel all the way to Wales where we were booked in a cottage, so it was still a long way to travel. You know, we so badly wanted to be in England on our 30th anniversary, but our friends who always look after the boys, house and all the rest couldn't get leave from work. We wanted to go and have lunch at this hotel. Maybe next time.
The first time I saw Arlington Row I started to cry because it is so beautiful. I did some research before we left for England, and it was on our list of things to see. I totally forgot about it and we drove into Bibury totally unaware of Arlington Row. We came into the village, I looked to my left, and here this awesome row of ancient houses was, hitting me between my eyes. We spent quite a lot of time there that day. The next time we visited England we stayed in a B&B in Bibury and early the next morning we walked to Arlington Row. No one else was about, it was quite early, and suddenly through the misty weather, Arlington Row again popped up. It felt so special, almost as if it made an appearance just for us. I'll never forget it. xx

We went into the Christmas Court (1st picture) and I walked in your footsteps in the second. The 4th picture was where I saw the metal animals (Shops thread).
The Swan is a bit like The Lygon Arms (below) in Broadway, you have to save your pennies.

Just outside Bibury you will also find the Bibury Court Hotel I think it's called, more or less along the lines of your photo of Lygon Arms. We just made a u-turn there, actually looking for something else. I know the Swan is quite expensive, we had a look at their menu they had in the window. That's actually why we kind of 'saved up' to have lunch or tea there with our 30th anniversary, but it didn't work out unfortunately. x

Here's a link to the Bibury Court Hotel if you want to have a look (or book?)

It looks my sort of place. We don't go away that often, but we always like to stay in 4/5 * hotels. Our favourite in Sidmouth, The Victoria, is like that, they demand thet men wear jacket and tie in the hotel during the hours of dinner, if you don't have one they will lend you one. It gives a girl a chance to dress up.

That's nice Gentian, one needs to do this kind of thing now and again. It's uplifting. xx
