Yesterday we popped in this little market town, (pronounced Alster). It is of Roman origin as the was an encampment there. We popped into the museum and found the stone sculpture of a 2nd century noble man, these half timbered buildings are now used as shops. We looked in the church and here I found the x-stitch wall hanging showing the types of buildings found in the town.
We were too late to see the Morris Dancers as it was May Day, but I was pleased to see lots of individual shops all well patronised.

Oh wow Gentian, marvellous pictures and what an amazing wall hanging! It must've taken ages to make it. I also adore the half timbered houses. xx

There were two other hangings of all the groups in the town, seems a very active place.

What an interesting place Gentian and I loved the x-stitch wall hangings, I suppose they were all done by different people.
