Another thread for the travelogue.
Have just returned from our break and we were so lucky with the weather. I have taken some photos, the first five are of some of the cottages I admire and the parish church. I particularly liked the carved wooden font cover.

Those cottages are really beautiful isn't? Not to mention the flowers in the foreground. I see what you mean by the font cover Gentian, it is impressive. Thanks for the lovely photos! xx

These are some others which I snapped and thought you might like.
The first is the hotel called Victoria because Princess Victoria stayed next door in the Royal Glen before she was queen.
The second is the view from the garden.
The third is Jacobs Ladder a good climb from the beach and worth it is you call on the tea rooms in the castle at the top
The forth and fifth are of a WW11 pill box

Franbee and Crocus you got in before I had editted it. I was going to say if you wanted the cottage in the second picture it is on the market at a cool 1.25 million - any takers?

What lovely photos Gentian. I have not been to Sidmouth but it looks a nice place so have put it on the list for the future.

Hi Gentian, no not yet - too scared!:D It really is a lovely cottage, especially the blue paintwork.

DF, I agree fully with Gentian - it's a beautiful village, very cosy, very welcoming, lovely shops. We really fell in love with Sidmouth and would very much like to spend more time there. xx

I was pleased to see that they are not showing any signs of credit crunch, the only shop which has closed is Woolworths.

D'you know, crocus, I'd forgotten about the cliffs. I think a holiday on the South coast needs to go on the list.

Think so too, and on your way, go and see Tarr Steps and Postbridge. Sidmouth is a lovely lovely town. It's got a lovely atmosphere, the shops are very nice, people friendly. We really enjoyed it there and would very much like to go back there someday.

The cliffs in your last picture, Crocus are gradually crumbling and the coastal path has been moved further inland.
We love Sidmouth and at one time nearly moved there, but my Mum was ill and our son was going through a divorce so we didn't. In some ways I'm glad and we can still go there for holidays.
