My daughter has been to the hospital for results of tests on ulcerated colitis
She was told this is her problem and has been given a lot of medication. The specialist gave her a website address about this and told her to read it. Well I don't know if you remember but she has been also having problems with a rash in her mouth and still is having this. The site she was given to read also tells symptoms for Crohns Decease and whilst reading it realised it mentions the mouth symptoms for the Crohnes which she was diagnosed with months ago as Geographical Tongue. She rang back to the hospital and they now are wondering if it is this. She has got to go for an Endoscopy as they know she gets pain in the upper stomach. To top the day off results are back for Sophie abd it has been confirmed she has got Gandular Fever the doctor said she can go to school but my daughter has to pay £19.00 for a letter to say if she is tired while there she must be sent home. The school are kindly offering home tutoring if need be as her G C S E exams are beginning very soon now .
What a birthday present for poor Sophie who will be 16 April the first .
I hope we have'nt got a third problem to come yet can't help feeling scared.

Wow Dinger, It really is Monday for you eh? Hopefully it can be established what's wrong when doing the Endoscopy. I can't believe your daughter has to pay 19 pound for a letter to the teacher - goodness. That's quite hefty. xxx

Oh! Dinger,

Poor you, poor daughter and poor grandaughter. It is easy to say that you should not worry but when you are feeling 'down' I think you feel everything is going wrong. Maybe having to pay £19 was the third shock!

It does make you wonder when your daughter has now had the hospital thinking about a different diagnosis!

Take care and fingers crossed for all of you that soon things will start to improve.

What a shame for your daughter dinger but at least when she is diagnosed properly she should be give the right treatment. Typical that she has to find out herself what her problem is. I hope your grandaughter is well enough to go to school soon. It is rediculous charging £19.00 for a letter that probably takes 2 minutes to type. Best wishes and hugs to you and your family. xx

I agree that £19 is a liberty. Speaking as a teacher we have often had cases of Glandular Fever around exam time with a medical certificate to confirm it. Hint - make sure she puts in for "Special Consideration" with her exam papers (ask her Form Tutor or the school's exam officer) - I have seen it make a difference of a grade in the final results. It may not be necessary, but is a useful "safety net" if she finds the stress of the exams plus revising for them too exhausting.

Oh dinger, everything seems to have happened at once for your family;I do hope that they can get your daughter sorted out with some proper treatment when they have made the correct diagnosis, having such a cocktail of medication can't be helping if they did get it wrong.
Regarding the £19 letter,I'm afraid they will charge whenever they can these days but it does seem a bit unreasonable I admit.Hopefully as SG says it can be used to back her cause should it become necessary, but it sounds as though her school are being reasonable and helpful where possible.
Thinking of you all with fingers crossed.x

Hi Crocus Lesley has begun her tablets but is still in a lot of pain today. Sophie has gone to school but knows if she feels too unwell she must come home. It is all so much worry .

Dear Dinger, the tablets may take a bit of time to do it's work properly, and fortunately your granddaughter can come home if she doesn't feel to well. Do you know how long it will take for this glandular fever to run it's course? xx

My sister had it for 6 weeks but average is usually 2 weeks, so I am told.
