I was wondering if all you budding cooks out there can help me.

I have a cake tin 3 in deep and 10in across.
Problem i have is all the cake recipies i find are for a 7in sponge cake.
Could anyone tell me the amount of ingredients i would need to make a light chocolate sponge [:rolleyes:as you can see i am no cook ]
Also how do i make the chocolate sponge with chocolate sauce in it:)
:eek:One more question why do some recipys say use plain flour and baking powder, yet some say use SR flour, which is the best for a really light sponge?

;)Infact could someone please come round and make me one.

Not sure about a 10" recipe but to make a sponge with sauce in in you need to google "mississippi mud pie" and you will find the ingredients. That's more of a pudding as a spoon is needed to eat it.

Bonnie, have you thought about buying a smaller tin?

My Mum used to make an 8 inch sponge with a 3 egg mixture.

To convert plain flour to SR, you add 1 level teaspoon of baking powder to each 4 oz of plain flour. There used to be a 'sponge flour' available, that used to give a good result, but I usually use the plain/b.pwd well sifted.

Sometimes a recipe might ask for SR flour plus b.pwd, such as scones.
