Hi Sheddie, I did read that one way to reduce water retention is strangely to drink more water. Another is to eat bananas as they are high in potassium and this helps eliminate water retention. Don't know if either work but at least they can't hurt.

Hi sheddie,I have a little book which I have just consulted called 'Grandmother's secrets' and apart from the above....drinking more water..... this books suggests that Blackcurrant, both fruit and leaves (which should be boiled to make an infusion) are effective as a diuretic and an aid to long life. Also,Leeks,if you boil a kilo of leeks in 2 litres of dry white wine until reduced by half, then strain it,and drink a wineglass each morning for a month. You can apparantly do something similar with onions and white wine too and don't worry about the alchohol ,it will disperse with boiling if you decide to try it!!!
If none of that turns you on then you can buy a natural preparation called Aquaban and that might prove to be a lot easier than the above!!!!

Fluid retention is often associated with a build up of toxins. A general detoxifying programme of diet, exersie and massage will help. Essential oils such as juniper, lavender will help to dilate the local blood vessels and encourage increased blood flow.
My mother used to collect stinging nettles in early spring, dry them and drink the tea. Don't really know if it helped and drinking more water is surely more pleasant than this.

Parsley Tea (infusion) will help, and if wanted can be added to normal tea for decent flavour. Just remember to use a tea strainer and partake of a parsley cuppa at least once a day, but if symptoms persist I'd get it checked out with a doc.
