:o Im fed up , headache, back and chest ache, headache and wheezing and coughing like a goodun.

 And i had the flu jab back in november. Since the jab i have had colds continuous, but this last two weeks have been the worst.

Cant lie down because i start coughing so sleep is a no no. Now martin has the same. I think we are just passing it backwards and forwards to each other.
I cant buy over the counter cough meds because of my medication and have tried the honey and lemon route, but hasn't worked. Anyone got any other ideas please?

Have to see GP today for bloods so will mention it to him. Last time i felt like this i had pneumonia.

Basically i feel like C**P:(

simmer a chopped onion in butter and a spoon full of honey for about 20 minutes drain and drink the liquid. Tastes awful but is supposed to help. A Polish lady who used to work for my mum told me they do the same with beetroot but I suppose it takes longer until they are cooked.

Hope it 's not pneumonia drink lots of herbal teas (elderflower and linden-flower) to loosen the mucus and stop you re-infecting yourself.
Maybe it helps, if not see GP to rule out something more serious. Get well soon.

Hi Bonnie, I've never had flu so can't know how you feel. I know flu makes you feel real bad by what friends experienced so thinking of you. I've suffered quite a lot with bronchitis as a child, but never flu.

Bonnie,

If both you and Martin have it - it must be "Man Flu".

No wonder you feel so poorly; now you really do have my sympathy!:D

Oh poor Bonnie,I sympathised with you on a different thread and mentioned the flu jab,it doesn't appear to have done you a lot of good.Have you been specifically told not to take anything to help you? is paracetamol allowed? if not, hopefully your Doc will help when you see him,it is miserable for you and not fair at all.

Clunk i can't believe i have just read your post.

I have severe bronchitus and been given some strong antibiotics, have to go back in a week if no better and have exray to check for pnuemonia starting again.

Martin also has a bit of a chest infection and i have to say the dr did say men do feel the effects of MAN FLU more.
Dr also suggested i should sleep in the shed for a week as martin will need his rest.lolx

As i type he is laying on the couch asking kayleigh can you get me this or can you do this as the dr has said i am not well. I have man flu. you women don't understand.
Dr doesn't believe in cough mixtures so another sleepless night awaits.

Bonnie, you poor girl. Do hope the antibiotics kick in quickly and you're feeling better soon.

Poor Martin too, don't let him run poor little Kayleigh off her feet.

Feel better soon Bonnie.

Bonnie,

I'm glad you are taking this seriously, you need to get over this bout of bronchitis quickly; poor Kayleigh can't be expected to nurse Martin on her own and your cough will probably wake Martin in the night:D

Martin needs a lot of TLC at this critical time so I don't think your sleeping in the shed will help; it will take far too long for you to bring him a glass of water or a tissue when he needs one if you are out in the garden.

Martin probably needs some Brandy or Rum and a chest rub - but don't rub the Rum on his chest or he'll hurt his neck trying to lick it off.

Martin may pull through quicker if you and Kayleigh wear nurses uniforms too and of course once he is well again, you can concentrate better on your own health, so its a win-win situation.:D

Seriously, look after yourselves.
Prayers for you all,
Dr Clunkenstein XXX

Seriously try that onion stuff if all fails at least you won't get attacked by vampires! Can't you move to a guest room, so you do not keep each other awake during the night? I never long as much for a guest room as when hubby has a cold. There was some news on the radio last night that if you slept less than 7 hours a night you were prone to catch flue more often. So off to the guest room with one of you.
Get well soon

theres been an epidemic of it round here.everyone who had the flu.this strain sent it to their chest.three weeks at least of a bronchitis type infection.we thought our son was dying at one point. my rememdy.which i have for any chest infection.is cut an onion up small and add to half a jar of organic honey.put the lid on and shake.leave over night.the next day there will be a runny liquid.you have a desert spoon 3 times a day.till it is all gone.it is a natural anti biotic.they used to use it to help children get over whooping cough(in the old days)poor bon and martin.look after yourselves.you have the bed bon and put martin on the sofa

Hi eleanor, that sounds like a fantastic remedy and not unlike the one my Mum used to get for me when I was small,it was called Liquifruita and was heavily laced with garlic! but it was marvellous stuff,I don't think you can buy it these days.

Bonnie,I hope you and Martin are a little better today,it is miserable for you both, has Kayleigh succumbed?

Oh dear, best wishes to all who are suffering from flu at the moment. Look after yourselves. The GP we had before moving down here always said when one has a cold, just have lots of liquids to hydrate your body.

Ivy i will give your idea a go. anything to stop the coughing, but as for the less than 7hours sleep its been years since i have had more than 4.

As for Martin, the only thing that will be getting rubbed on him clunk is superglue on his lips to stop him moaning.
MAN FLU indeed.x
