On the news last night was an item about some factory workers in Staffordshire opting for a 4 day working week, and pay cut, so that more employees can keep their jobs while their company is struggling financially - especially important in rural areas where there aren't many employers. They seemed very philosophical about it, and it seems to me that this forced decision could actually be a good thing, as it means that people will have more time for their families, developing other interests, and contributing to their community. Maybe this style of working where everyone works part-time and so everyone is in work and has a good work-life balance could catch on, or perhaps it should be enforced by government. What is your view on this?

Hi Jazz, I think it's quite a good idea, especially in tough times where more people can share in renumeration. When good times return, I'm sure everybody will pull their weight to award the company for the understanding during the tough times. xx

I would think better to have part time work than none at all Jazz xx

It is a very good idea Jazz but most people would not be able to live on half pay. I only work part time and I think I have the best of both worlds.

I think if they work part time they would not be allowed to apply for benefits and this would be hard on the family unless they could get another part time job
