Have just laughed my way through "Having a lovely time "by Jenny Eclair, a bit rude but very funny and a real comment on some modern marriages.
She's great on grumpy old women :)

I simply love "grumpy old women" - trouble is I don't think they are grumpy OR old - I agree with everything they say and could probably give them a year or two!!!!! ( I DON'T believe it!)

Souter girl, I agreed with everything they had to say, so I must be a "Grumpy Old Women" as well.
Will have to make a note on the book.

I really like Jenny Eclair, right from when she first started on TV in a comedy programme called Packet of 3. I still remember a really funny line that she had and was considered to be quite risque on TV in 1990. She 'arrived' on the set saying "I came on the bus, but I managed to pass it off as an asthma attack!"

I laughed out loud! Thank you Jazzactivist! Is your "small village" in the Borders? Must be lovely right now - looking forward to a few days in Selkirk in August and some time in Edinburgh at book festival/fringe/festival.

Hi souter girl. I am just about to leave our small village in southern Scotland for a small one in Cumbria! However, I am not quite in the Borders - more just on the border of Dumfries and Galloway region. I hope that you enjoy your visit to Selkirk. Are you originally from the Borders? The weather has been pretty constantly rainy here, as elsewhere, but everything still looks just as nice. We used to regularly go to the Edinburgh Book Festival and Fringe, as we are book and theatre lovers and my partner is a writer and literature officer. However, this year we will have to give it a miss since we will be settling into our new life down south.

Jazz, I had a mouthful of wine when I read your post, I'm now madly cleaning the keyboard trying to clean up the wine & spittle!

Hope your new life in Cumbria is good to you jazzactivist! Yes I was brought up in the Borders before heading rather further south (London) and then "up" to Bucks. It always amuses me down here to see signs to "The North" meaning anything north of Watford, but when I'm in Scotland, "South" can mean Newcastle!
