I like light easy reading at this time of the year. I have just finished Secret Gardens by Erica James. It is a romantic novel set in an English Village, and includes a trip to Italy where the story unfolds. Very pleasant happy book. The other book I loved was The Forgotten Garden by Kate Marsden. She also wrote The House at Riverton. Both worth reading. Enjoy

I agree, TW - I enjoyed The Forgotten Garden and like you love a good, but light read.!!

I've read quite a few of Erica James's books but not Secret Garden. I must have a look at our local library.
Someone whose books I also like to read for relaxation is Katie Fforde's. Some of her books I enjoyed quite a lot was "Restoring Grace", Thyme out", "The Rose Revived".

They sound like my kind of reading Tiggy but do they have swearing in them. I hate swearing and won't read anything with it in so don't buy many new novels.

I like Katie Fford and Nora Roberts, Crocus. I sometimes like a break from heavy serious novels! Looking forward to buying The Morville Hours when it comes out in paperback.
Dragonfly, I have a large collection of books written in the 40's and 50's which I love, and reread, as they are so pleasant. Your paintings are wonderful. I envy your talent.

Thanks for your kind words Tiggywinkle, I have been having lessons for a couple of years. I read a lot of old books, with having a bad memory I can re-read them every few years. At present I am working my way through a load of Readers Digest books which have four stories in each and I am reading novels by authors I would not normally read and it is really broadening my horizon.

Hi Tiggy, it's just a bit of struggle to get hold of her books (Katie Fforde). Our library only have about 4. Practically Perfect I also enjoyed. She was born the same year as me, 1952.
