Eye Pain

I am getting a pain in my eye and over the side of my head which has been there all over Christmas . Could it be eye strain , lack of sleep or blood pressure . I am starting with the last one first B/P check tomorrow to find out .

Hi dinger. I am sorry to read that you have been getting this type of pain over Christmas. At one time I used to get severe night headaches that would start off as a pain in my left eye and then spread over that side of my head. Eventually, my doctor diagnosed stress headaches and gave me some mild medication for it, which did help. However, by chance, a colleague who used to be a sports injury therapist told me that these types of headaches can be caused by a slight neck injury where the muscles in the head over compensate for a misaligned vertabra in the neck. I went to an osteopath who diagnosed that the upper vertabrae in my neck were out of place. She manipulated them back into place and this solved the problem. This type of injury can be caused by neck strain, a fall, or holding the shoulders and head tense due to stress. It might be worth getting these possiblities checked out if there doesn't seem to be an obvious physical problem, as you have experienced quite a lot of stress lately. Good luck, and I hope that the problem is resolved for you soon. There isn't much worse than a terrible headache.

Hi dinger,I think Jazz has given you a very helpful answer which after investigation,may well prove to be the cause of your problem.I am so sorry you have been suffering over Christmas,like Jazz says,there is nothing worse than a headache/pain near the eyes. let us know how you get on.

Dinger - is it a stabbing pain? If so, another possibility is Shingles in your head. I had it 2 years ago and it was extremely painful - it is also dangerous if it spreads down to your eye, so GET IT CHECKED OUT right away. Good luck - be thinking of you

It is'nt a very bad headache just this annoying pain through my eye and dull ache. I will let you know how I get on tomorrow.

I went to doctors and blood pressure fine . Pleased to say no pain in my eye today but will be going for eye test .x
