 Kayles has moles all over her body and has already had to have 2 removed as they didn't look quite right.
She has one on her side that has all of a sudden got a bit bigger. she says it is very itchy. I had a look at it and it seems quite crusty to touch and it has a outer ring around it. Its about one and a half times the size of a drawing pin head, but was very small to start with.
The problem is she will only see one gp at our doctors surgery and cant get an appointment until Jan 2nd as the gp is away.
Is it normal for a mole to be like this or do you think she should get it seen sooner than her appointment in Jan.?
Anyone an expert on moles?????????????

Sounds as though she needs to have this one looked at too. Try getting in touch with the place where she had the others removed, they might see her without a fresh referral from the GP.

Perhaps it's better to have it looked at Bonnie, as Fran suggests. xxx

They say if a mole has changed size, colour, shape or starts to itch it should be seen to quickly. I would ask her to go as soon as possible if only to put your mind at rest.
Years ago I had one that grew double it's size, changed colour and itched a lot. I went and had it removed but the biopsy said it wasn't cancerous so try not to worry, especially if she is prone to them.

Not too worried df as i say she has had 2 removed before, but they just went a shade darker, this is quite noticeble.
Fran it was our GP that removed the other 2 under local anethsetic but as i say he is not back till Jan 2nd.
Problem is we have 4 GP's in our surgery but kayleigh will only see this one.

Jan 2nd isn't too long to wait, if K prefers it.
To be honest I would go strait away. K is not a baby and should go to one of the others.

We are thinking ivy Jan is only a couple of weeks away and k. gets stressed so easily setting off her epilepsy. Just the idea of another doctor will panic her.
I think it is probably my fault for babying her so much since loosing stuart.
I think we will keep an eye on it and if it does change anymore i will take her. At the moment we have put a small dressing with tiny air holes over it so the air can still get to it, and she doesn't seem to be itching it so much even though it still is very itchy.
Sorry if I came across a bit harsh didn't mean to.Just keep watching it.

Bonnie couldn't she go to see the other doctor just for a diagnosis and if anything needs doing wait for her original doctor to perform the op in Jan???. If nothing needs doing you don't have to worry all over Christmas.

Hi bonnie! This development is worrying, especially as K has had 2 moles removed before. What about phoning NHS Direct to see if it is better to encourage her to see another doctor straight away or wait until 2 Jan. They will ask a list of questions about it and then recommend the best action. Try not to worry too much. I had a mole that seemed to grow wider and higher over night and rushed off to the doctor only to be told that it had been bitten by a midgie! My friend had a mole that grew in size, crusted over and started to flake off, went to her doctor and was told not to worry as some moles have a limited lifespan and shed themselves in this way, especially if the person changes in size in that area. I also have a lot of moles on my body, and lived my young life in the sun with no protection. My doctor did suggest removing some as a precaution, but I didn't think that type of surgery was useful. He said that a lot of doctors are suggesting this now, so maybe Kayleigh's treatment was part of that approach.

Well just to update you, Kayleigh saw the doctor yesterday regarding her mole.
He said it is quite crusty and dark looking and because it has a ring appeared around the mole now , he thinks it needs to be cut out, also it now seems to have a lump under the mole. Not sure what that means but anyway she is now awaiting an appointment to have it removed at the doctors under minor op. He said it needs to be removed straight away.
