 I seem to have an art for doing this. But how do i clean them without scratching the bottom of the pot?

Hi Bonbon, have you tried bicarb or something? Leave it for a day or two and see what happens. I sometimes use a bit of dishwashing powder, leave it overnight and net morning the burny bits come of quite easily. xx

I remember my Mum used to leave potato peelings with a little water overnight. Anyone else remember this old methold?

If I can get something like burnt milt off, I leave a layer of salt on overnight, it seems to help, but elbow grease seems to be required whatever you use
I'm afraid.

There's a spray which works like oven cleaner (green squeezy bottle) which I find really effective. Can't remember what it's called , but somone like Ainsley Harriott or Lenny Henry used to advertise it on TV for barbecues and grill racks.

I would be inclined to try something acidic like white vinegar or Lemon .just an idea.

Like Crocus, I use a dishwasher tablet. Cover with water, bring to the boil, and simmer for a bit. Stir around with a wooden spoon, and bingo, you've got a clean saucepan.

Hi bonnie. When I have done the same thing I put about an inch of salt in the pot and then heat it up on a high heat. Once the salt is hot, keep the pot on the ring and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon, scraping the bottom of the pot now and again. You will start to see the burnt food turning to ash in the salt. Once it feels like is almost all off then wash the pot as usual. The whole business takes about 15 mins.

Washingpowder! Put two table spoons of washing powder in the pot fill it about an inch of water into the pot and bring it to the boil leave to cool and everything shouldcome off with a soft brush. If not repeat. You can also use dishwasher powder if you are not using tablets (one is far too much)
