LIMONCELLO
12 lemons
1400cc (6 c.) water
1 k. (5 c.) sugar
1 litre grain alcohol - or Vodka

Peel lemons carefully, do not get the pith. Place lemon peels in a bowl and pour in alcohol. Cover and leave for 48 hours. After 48 hours make a syrup with sugar and water. Bring this mixture to a boil. Let cool completely. Drain the mixture, using a coffee filter or paper towel. Mix sugar syrup and lemon mixture ad pour into sterilized bottles. Place in freezer/fridge. Mixture may be halved or doubled.

I've never made this myself, but Limoncello is from Capri and is found in all the shops there. If you don't want to drink it, it can be used to drizzle over a dessert.

Mmmmmmmmmm!Doesn't that sound delicious! Somehow home-made alcohol always seem quite healthy (?) How about sloe gin or damson gin? I used to love making both and giving them as C*******presents (or indeed drinking them at the festive season),unfortunately other people beat me to the sloes around here and we no longer have a damson tree - just have to drink the gin as it comes then.

I had mislaid my recipe, so thank you KD. I love homemade drinks. Bought some Root Beer Extract in Amish Country. Used to make sloe gin, but find it hard to find sloes now. Going to try plums instead. The colour is so pretty for Christmas.
I have the name of a website dedicated to homemade drinks, and cocktails. Will look for it, and post it.
