Whilst cleaning the oven this morning... and later polishing my halo... I had Mathew Wright on the small television, listening to the conversations. One of them was about lending to a friend, brought about by the fact that Robbie Williams claims to have lent £200,000 to some friends to start a new fashion label only to find out they wasted it on partying and such. This prompted the discussion about lending to friends, would you do it. Would you lend a book or CD, favourite or otherwise. Would you lend money? And if you did would you do it with the expectation of getting it back, or not. Apparently you shouldn't give away anything you expect or want back! And the recipient also will assume, apparently, that if you have lent it, then in reality you have given it because you don't want or need or expect it back, so it's theirs!
I have to say I believe in the old adage of 'neither a borrower nor lender be' and don't lend anything to anyone, nor ask to borrow. The mortgage being the exception to the rule!
Views, ladies?
