Hi All

I am becoming ever more angry about the sheer volume of unnecessary post we get - it is a shameful waste of paper and resources.

i have signed to the mail preference service so that we dont get junk mail and leaflets delivered to our new address - but this doesnt stop my bank and insurance companies etc sending out marketing material with my statements and other documents.

Yesterday i got home to a full postbox. There were 7 A5 envelopes. the envelopes in total contained 32 pieces of paper. Out of all this there were 3 pieces of paper i actually needed to keep. 2 of which were in one envelope

so 5 envelopes and 29 pieces of paper that were unnecessary. even if that only happens twice a week - If you add it up over a year it's a lot - then multiply it by everyone in the UK :eek: -

thanks for listening

Yeah, we just stick it in the recycling, and try to avoid signing up to anything where they might pass on our details.

Since I signed up to the MPS my junk has seriously diminished. I have also made sure that I tick the data protection boxes AFTER reading if you tick or don't tick as some of them are worded trickily and you can actually be signing up! The only mail I get now are the mail sort things that the mail man brings on a Monday and you cannot do anything about them.

Has everyone made sure that they are NOT on their local council's extended electoral roll? That is the one the councils sell on with everyone's details.

Here's what I do with the odd few bits that do filter through: I open them and then using the prepaid envelope (usually provided) I post it all back to them at their cost.
