A chance look at today's paper

Seems there is a problem with the legality of speeding fines resulting from a camera on the A35 at Chideok in Dorset. A quick 'phone call to the fines office and watch this space- I might get my points cancelled. I'm not promoting breaking the law or excessive speed but it is ironic that I'm the only one in the family with points and yet am reuctant to travel as a passenger with any of my sons due to their speed.

I don't believe you CAN speed through Chideok, it's all traffic calming and a bloomin' great hill (going Devonwards), they must have got it wrong.

Did you think the camera was wrong when you got the points lily?

In the planning application the camera was to take effect from a certain road , but the name given related to a different road, hence the recorder has ruled the camera invalid. A lot of money seems to be at stake- about 100 motorists fined per week over a 10 year period. Not too good at maths, but its a lot! Anyway, Dorset CC are appealing the decision, so will await the outcome. Friend who lives in Dorchester says its a notorious camera and catches many people.
