I was listening to the news yesterday, and they were talking about how we in the UK may be charged for our waste, and that we need to be on the same level as our European Countries. I find this really strange because when ever I am travalling in Europe like Spain last week their waste disposal is awful, you will find rubbish in the streets they do not seem to own dustbins and as for recycling I dont think it even exist.

I have a Red Bin for my papers, cans and plastic, a Green Bin for my garden waste and my Black Bin for other rubbish that is not recyclable. Plus my cospost in the garden where the veg and other garden rubbish can go into.

Is it just the UK being terribly conscious about the Eurpoean Regulation, beacuse I do not see the other European Countries obeying to the Regulations!

I think the Scandanavian countries are better at recycling, but Greece and Spain have always appeared to be rubbish strewn to me. The facilities for recycling are all in towns and suburbs here, if you live off the beaten track it is very much up to you to do your own recycling, and if you don't drive I guess it all goes into landfill. Just small adjustments would help country people to recycle more, around me, a lot of people burn stuff every day in garden incinerators - that cannot be the answer surely.

france is excellant for recycling. they have recycling for everything even on a local basis.every bit of packaging is recycled.many large shops do not supply carrier bags.a tiny town we were in had a recycle centre including a place for old oil.i dont think they cater for garden rubbish.but the village i have been to a lot.there is a lot of small holding kind of living.so it all gets composted or fed to the animals like the hens etc.

I think if you get kids recycling from a young age, they'll grow up thinking that it's the 'norm'. My dad is crap at recycling, he just genuinely doesn't think about doing it, whereas with my mum and I, it's done automatically without thought.

I think this is a valid point about EU regulations and how certain laws are upheld throughout the whole EU. Kind of makes me feel like more of a Euro-skeptic than I already am.

Black bin for everything that can not be recycled. Yellow bags for recycable rubbish, newspapers collected once a week. Green bin for those who choose not to have a compost (or can't have one, lacking a garden) Recycling yards not more than 20 minutes away from were you live. Glass containers everywhere. I think this is quite good . You just pay for the black and green bins the rest is free. The smaller the black bin the cheaper it is. So people get a reward if they recycle. this is how we treat our rubbish in Germany

Good for Germany and France...Just wish Spain, Greece, Turkey and other places could do better...
