As some of you will have read, yesterday I bought two balls of wool that I JUST HAD TO HAVE.
What I didn't say about these two divine little creatures (aside from that they are based on the artist Hundertwasser) is that they were NOT cheap!!:)
I took them to the counter, put them down and gaily said, "I'll take these please".
"That's £17.00 please" said the owner.
It was then that time froze while my little brain tried to decide whether or not to holler "HOW MUCH?!!!!!!!!!!!!" and face the impending embarrassment, or just hand over the cash.:o
The rest, as you all know, is history.:)

My goodness RP, at that price, you'll have to make something with it! Tea cozy?

Planning on knitting a pair of arm warmers, and maybe some little flowers for applique. Bearing in mind I am not a knitter. I have the basics but that is it. This was a serious attack of 'menopausal spending' at its best.

If one can afford it, there's nothing wrong with buying something just for the pleasure of owning it.

Rustic your wool sounds very interesting, you must show us what you end up knitting with it.
I used to knit a lot at one time but haven't done any for a few years. I recently fancied doing some but when I looked at the price of wool I thought it is cheaper to buy them. I know bought ones don't last as long but I have jumpers I knit 20 years ago and I can't throw them out as they are still good even though old fashioned. I must dig out the bin bags full of wool from the loft and see what I have.

Fran, I can't afford this kind of spending. It was, I'm afraid, a matter of pride at the till. I couldn't bring myself to face the humiliation of saying I'll put them back! Next time, I'll make sure I ask 'and how much is that a ball, please' before getting myself into hot water. It's okay, I'll just do without food for a month!:)

That's perhaps not such a good idea RP! Hop over, I'll feed you for the month!;)
What's the colour of the wool? Somehow I see a pretty royal blue and a aubergine colour! ;)xx
Here in the Falklands I was getting carried away at the weekend planning how much wool I could take home. There is such a better choice and quality than when I was here before. I fancy at least a dozen balls of brown and cream aran produced from local Merino sheep (only £3 for 100g) ,and a shop that sells everything from horse shampoo to shower mats to greaseproof paper also sells UK yarns at about half the price of at home, albeit not the choice of colours and it might be old stock. And there's a thriving spinners and weavers club, who produce hanks of gorgeous hand spun and sometimes handdyed yarns, some with silk in, in gorgeous colours and sell these in the touristy gift shops aimed at cruise ship visitors. As I said, I was getting carried away, thinking "I'll have one of those" "and one of that colour", until I realised that they were £6.50 for 50 grams! And I have to pay the shipping or postage cost to get themhome (I have 54kilos of air luggage, but am here for up to 12 weeks so you can imagine how much stuff I brought). I'm so glad I didn't take them to the till!

Thanks, Crocus, but I think I'll stay here, wot with all them spiders and all!
The yarn is all deliciously soft and muted shades of heathery purples, bluey greens, greens with just a splash of browny oranges to burgandy. I might see if I can take a picture of it for you!
It is currently sitting next to me as I type, and I do believe it has started to purr!:)

:)How about a pom pom for a wooly hat.:D
How about pom poms to be distributed to everyone for I am sure there will be enough yarn! A sort of Rural Muse 'handshake' so that we would all know who we are, even if others don't!
Love the new avatar, Bonnie!
