Me too crocus, when do we do the housework?

Crocus
30-10-2007, 08:42 AM
Oh goodness me, inbetween I suppose! Run to iron, run to clean a bathroom, run to prepare something for lunch, run to hang washing on the line, run to tidy up where ever it's necessary, run to prepare dinner and phew! at last run to the computer during the evening to chat with my dear friends! It's such hard and laborious work!!! But as long hubs and sons don't complain, I'll be chatting, chatting chat.....................

'Morning all,'Crocus you have been peeping at my so-called housekeeping!!! that is exactly what I do and I don't have children to look after. Its fun though isn't it and wonderful to think we are an international crowd,I still can't get my head round the fact that you in South Africa, others in Australia/New Zealand/Switzerland etc. can talk to us by just the click of a mouse, amazing but I'm SO glad it can happen for us all.

Katelb how's the new hair style coming along? I just don't know where to begin today, I need guidance, so much to do, so little time to do it all! But we can't be beat can we folks? X

Crocus

Won't be beaten if I have anything to say Sheds! We are strong! We have friends the world over! Friends that understand us, help us when necessary, laught, cry, pray, support and that makes us strong! :)

Dear Sheds, with all that you have to do today, just start at the beginning, tackle one task at a time, and before you know it, you've done it all! Crocus xx :)

Okay, here's a few tips: No sleep for the next 2 nights, lots of cups of tea, plate of sandwiches, blanket over your knees (if necessary) and start reading! "Hard work" but enjoyable, I can assure you! ;)

Hi Dinger, this morning early, 5.45 a.m., when I usually get up, I switched on the laptop, to see what chats went on last night. To my utter dismay our ISP was still not working! Grrrrr I was so upset! Even had 2 cups of coffee! Hubby put up a bit of a fight with them, and at last it's working again! Apparantly they had quite a lot of problems the past 2 days. So perhaps I'll be seeing you tomorrow morning? It might be a bit early for you though!

I agree that this is the most worthwhile site to chat on. It feels as if I know all of you so well that we would recognise one another if we bumped into one another in the street! That sounds like a great potential job, Oola. Just imagine putting all those lovely fairies, angels and stars on the tops.

I'm holding thumbs that it works out Oola!

Hi Pippa, my excuse to come and chat - well none actually! Or perhaps something like: "I'm so tired now, I just HAVE to sit down, and while sitting down, I can just as well chat to my dear friends"!

Just to let you know that I didn't get the job :( I really don't know why, I was willing to work the full time, do the early mornings, physically demonstrated that lifting the trees was easy enough even with my back problems (which I explained were postural, lifting heavy weights is subject to health & safety regs ANYWAY). She emailed me and just said my application was unsuccessful, bit of a blow considering it was for a 3 week temp job and makes me think that I must have done something really wrong. I was really nice to her and said that it would be my priority work for three weeks. I've asked her to explain why I was unsuccessful (don't know if I'll get a reply)so I know for future reference. Now panicking a bit because I really needed the income, and the fact that I would have been moving around a lot was perfect.

I hope that they do reply back to you find out why you were unsuccessful as you said you will know for the next time. what a bumber, but I am sure something will come along. Just maybe that was not the right job for you. thinking of you . xxx

Yes. Of course I'm back and have been posting! What would we ex-pats do without RM! I have visions of losing my English once I've retired so it's important for me to keep in touch and keep my mother tongue going. And what a nice bunch of people to keep in touch with!

Hi all

Good news - I managed to get some more writing work today! It looks to last over a few weeks, which is such a weight off my shoulders for now. So busy busy back to work...just have to put all my Christmas decorating skills into making my own decorations for home and to sell!

sheddie
15-11-2007, 06:53 PM
Don't be dissapointed Oola then the job wasn't meant for you! Wasn't it a bit hard for you anyway with your back problem. How many hours do you want to work and what would your ideal job be?

Oola
15-11-2007, 07:04 PM
Hi sheddie, don't know if you saw my last post but I have managed to get some more writing work, which is great news.

As for my job, I would love to work in an environment where no day is the same, if working for someone else I'd like to work part time so I can keep doing my writing and building my own businesses. I prefer to be in the background a bit, doing an important job though!

Ideally I'd like my own business, but it takes time to build. Rich always said he could see me as a floor manager or something at the BBC, or making videos lol, but basically anything creative is great. The thing is, I am terribly fidgety and I don't like being stuck in a rut doing the same things day in and day out, I love having my finger in lots of pies, so working out exactly what I want to do as an ideal job has been a bit of a struggle for me. One day I want to be an actress, the next I want to run my mineral makeup business, the next I want to write, the next I want to work outdoors, the next I want to work behind the cameras on period dramas, artistic direction, the next I want to run a store for ethically sourced goods. I just can't make up my mind! Either way, as long as I'm flexible, I'm not stuck in an office all day and doing something interesting, I'm happy.

Oola you sound so like me when I was younger and I'm still always having ideas now, I just can't stop. But at least we're not boring.Couldn't you put an advert on a board in a shop window for light gardening jobs, hours to suit you, cash in hand. I think there are so many widows etc that would love having a young lady round just to tidy their garden. You are in the right area i would have thought.

Good news indeed Oola about your writing work,as for your other aspirations for different jobs offering plenty of variety, just sit tight, and I think you will find they will happen, probably in the most unexpected way;who knows where this writing job will lead you and SOMEBODY has got to do all the above mentioned jobs!!!!

Hi Oola, glad to hear about the writing work. You sound just like me - I have so many ideas too but struggle trying to actually turning them into something. I think my problem is that I expect to see fast results and when they don't materialize I kind of loose momentum. In the last few years I've studied and qualified in interior design, qualified in floristry, freelanced as a florist, run a business making and selling cards, worked as a property valuer, and i'm now making silver and semi precious gemstone jewellery. I think sometimes its hard working by yourself if you've no one to bounce ideas off.

sheddie

Well bounce away Serenity if we can help with ideas let us know.

Thanks all :) Serenity I think you must be me in a parallel universe, except you seem to be actually doing things, rather than just thinking about them!

Pippa no, I'm a Capricorn. Half goat, half fish, go figure! AND it's supposed to make me good with money - HAHAHAHAHAHA (excuse me whilst I fall over laughing!!!).
