I like a hat with a bit of attitude and love my tweed cap, but have got a fur one although not what you'd expect.I am posting one to my daughter today it is woollen, handmade, all colours with a tassel sort of thing on the back, very individual. What hat will you be wearing?

The "hat" in Four Weddings and a Funeral made quite impression on me (on the first wedding?).
I'd love to be able to wear a beret and actually look sensible

Oola what on earth do you mean'look sensible'? I think you would really suit a beret worn at a jaunty angle! go for it---very sensible, and french!!
Yeah but they only make hats for people with pea heads. I seem to have a moon for a head size-wise...

You will have to ask eleanor to bring you one back next time she goes to France, they may have larger ones over there given that so many frenchmen wear them!

Right then I'm not wearing a cap I don't want to look the same as everyone else.X I really meant on this topic what hat do you normally wear?
I usually wear beanies, but I would love to be able to wear berets and look a bit continental :)

I love hats, but have sadly never found one that suits me! I keep trying, though, and last year bought a lovely burgundy knitted one that can kind of pile up on top of the head like a turban, with an elaborate hat pin to hold it together. It looks good, but I am not sure if I have the courage to wear it

Oola, I know just what you mean. Somehow the idea of a frenchwoman wearing a beret - or scarf - or just about anything for that matter - conjures up the idea of cool and sophisticated. If I put a scarf on it looks like I have a sore throat or something. A hat, any sort of hat just looks plain silly. I finally got my ears pierced about three years ago, at aged nearly 51 and am enjoying all the lovely styles of dangly earring available now. Something I discovered recently which really surprised me were leather belts with an interesting buckle worn loosely below the waist. I'd seen several women wear them and thought how much more 'finished' their outfits look. I didn't think I'd be able to carry it off as I've developed bit of a tum and a belt would draw attention to it. Quite the opposite - it actually detracts from it and is slimming. Who'd have thought!.

I bet you look good keepsdaughter, just remember you're an NTN and allowed to dress just as you please! I also have a bit of a tum and haven't tried the belt idea, I think if you can I can too!

I am so glad you reminded us about that,a temporary memory lapse or a senior moment meant I had quite forgotten about the NTN's, we can get away with just about anything as a paid-up member can't we!

Hi Sheddie, I remember reading your topic and enjoyed it so much. I definitely think I fit into that category!. So many people put labels on what or who fits into what box as it were. Well, I don't think I've ever conformed to any ones idea of fitting into anything really (and it's my clothes particularly right now that I'm not fitting into).
Rich says I'm not normal. My parents say it too. I don't know whether they're trying to tell me whether I'm a bit odd lol. Ah well, we all like to be a bit different!
NORMAL? WHAT'S THAT?!!?!?
