At the moment I'm watching (new to us here in S.A.) a series: "Ann Maurice: Interior Rivalry". This is the description: "The final six contestants are set a challenge by a leading interior design magazine. The stakes are high as the winning team will have their work published in the magazine." (Real Homes Magazine)
I'm a bit disappointed not to have seen the first episodes as it seems to be quite an interesting programme. Do any of you know about this programme and watched it by any chance?
I've only ever seen Anne Maurice on House Doctor here in the UK. She's ok, sort of 'groomed' for this public image of a hard-nosed interior designer that says exactly what she thinks.

I actually hate the competitive edge to so much TV - I loved listening to the choirs on "Last Choir Standing" for instance, but don't see why there is always this element of sending someone home, except of course to provide massive telephone profits. I have seen Ann Maurice and would HATE to live in any home "designed" by her (or indeed anyone ), because a home is where you live, not a design concept.

Totally agree with you Souter girl. Cannot stand AnnMaurice and homes are all about personal taste and how a home works for the inhabitants, not everyone lives in neat little terraced houses in the suburbs that are easy to run. Reality or competition shows are just cheap television for the masses, nothing remotely intellectual or educational about them at all, dumbing down at its worst.

In the 'house doctor' Ann designs the houses for sale not for living in and I enjoyed the programmes.
I don't like many reality shows but did watch and enjoy 'Interior Rivalry' Crocus.
