I make this chutney in the microwave as its quick, and I don't bother to skin the tomatoes any more- too much trouble. This makes about 2 1/2 lbs, so I do several batches. I also put it into small jars.
2lbs green tomatoes, 1/2 lb apples, 4 ozs raisins, 8 oz brown sugar, 3/4 lb shallots, 1/4 teasp nutmeg, 1/4 teasp cinnamon, 1/4 teasp ground cloves, 1/4 teasp ginger, 1/4 teasp chilli powder, 1/4 teasp mace, 1/4 teasp mixed spice, 1/2 pint vinegar.

Peel and chop apples and shallots. Chop up tomatoes. Use large microwave bowl. Cook apples and shallots and half the vinegar, covered, on 10(Full) for 6 mins. Stir in rest of ingredients. Cover and cook on 10 again for 12 mins. Stir and cook again on 10 for 12 mins. Pour into warmed jars and seal. Lovely with cold meats and cheddar cheese.
